Travel Packing Checklist

Never be caught unprepared during a trip. Plan ahead and stuff your bag with the essentials things you need. The better prepared you are, the more fun you will have on the trip. Here’s a travel packing checklist. You can find more about this in Must-have Travel Accessories, the best travel backpack

*Medicine Kit

Never assume that no mishaps will happen on a trip. Even minor bruises should be taken care of. Always keep your first- aid kit handy. Treating wounds

Bring along a roll of bandage, safety pins, and scissors. Tweezers might be needed to pull out foreign materials that penetrate the skin. Bring ointments and alcohols for treating abrasions. If you are prone to allergies and itching, antihistamine medications like Benadryl should be handy. The very basic first aid kit would be good just add a few things that are custom to you.

 Common medicine

Carry along medicines that you are likely to use, like aspirin for headaches, laxatives for proper bowel movement, and pain relievers. Something that you should bring also is Imodium sometimes when you are in a new place and trying new food your stomach may not agree with what you are eating and this can save your trip. If you have a runny nose, buy a couple of decongestants. Dehydration and motion sickness is common when traveling, consult your doctor on which medicine is appropriate for you.

 Prescription drugs

Remember to bring along whatever medication you are taking. This also goes for vitamins you don’t basically want to keep up your daily routines so that you are not having issues and you able to enjoy your time while on vacation/holiday.  Bring enough supply to last for the entire trip.

*Personal Hygiene Kit

This kit must include all your toiletries. This will keep you looking fresh all the time.

Dental

Bring along your toothbrush, toothpaste, and dental floss. Buy a small bottled mouthwash or if you have plenty of supply left, just transfer it to a smaller container. The best way to do this is to go to your local pharmacy and pick up the travel size of your everyday items so that you’re not wasting valuable luggage space or so that you’re not wasting large amounts of products while you are traveling.

Hair

Carry along with your favorite brush, comb, and shampoo. Make sure to purchase or carry with you a universal charger because when you are traveling internationally the outlets are different so your hair dryers or curly irons will not work without the correct convertor. Stuff in your hair spray, hair cream, and gels if you are using one.

Personal effects

This will include your make-up kit. Make sure to keep these items in their own separated bag so that if they spill or leak you will not have make-up all over your clothes or valuables. Remember to bring only the cosmetics that you are likely to use. Carry with you a handy mirror. You can bring your manicure set too. Just keep in mind that with manicure kits you should watch out for items that are prohibited from being in carry-on luggage in case you are flying. Check out my video on prohibited items. That would be the last thing you would need as you’re all excited about vacation and get called for a secondary search with the airport security.

Skin protection

Keep your skin healthy by putting on sunscreen and lip balm. Make sure to pack with you some sort of lotion or after sun care if you are going to be traveling and going to the beach. The last thing you would want to do is try and find a place to purchase items that you forgot. This goes back to what I said earlier make sure to pack everything you would need so that you are keeping up with your normal routines.

Bathroom needs

Bring along with you sets of toilet papers, soaps, towels, and washcloths. A lot of the bathroom needs stuff will be proved for you if you are staying in a hotel. If you are saving money and staying in a hostel then you would need to bring your own supplies. The only thing that I would suggest regardless of the place you are staying is baby wipes for the times you need to stay fresh.

*Emergency Kit

This includes the stuff you might need like flashlights, lighters, pocket knife and duct tapes. Make sure when you bring some of these items that you are allowed to have them based on local laws. I know some countries do not allow mace/pepper spray, so check local and country laws to make sure you are not getting into trouble. That is the last thing you will want to do when on vacation. Mobile phones are important in case of emergency, be sure to bring your charger and an extra battery.  Also make sure to carry copies of important documents like Passport, License, birth certificates. This is case one of them get lost or stolen you will still be able to identify yourself to get replacements. These will help when you are in a different country and need to go to the embassy. They will need you to prove you are a citizen of the country you are claiming.

Leisure Kit

For added fun, you can bring along your travel journal, reading materials, and the local language book.  Trying to communicate in the language of the country you are visiting really goes a long way. Make the most out of fantastic views with your binoculars and your camera. Make sure that you bring extra batteries and memory cards while traveling. You never want to be at the perfect spot for a photo and have no battery or no more memory. There is no such thing as a standard travelers kit. It varies upon the place and the activities you’ll do in a certain place. The above kits are basically the essentials. Be sure to keep everything checked and have a fun trip ahead!
